We also talked about how BlerdCon feels like one big family reunion—a place where Black nerds, creators, cosplayers, and fans can come together, celebrate their passions, and build lasting connections. The sense of community, creativity, and belonging is what keeps so many attendees coming back year after year.

    Are we entering the Soul World? I had an amazing interview with a talented Death The Kid, Liz, and Patty cosplay group from the iconic anime Soul Eater! We talked about whether Soul Eater truly deserves a remake after all these years, especially with Fire Force coming to an end. Could this finally open the door for Soul Eater to return with a proper adaptation?

    We also reflected on how BlerdCon continues to bring anime fans, cosplayers, and the Black nerd community together through creativity, passion, and culture. From cosplay craftsmanship to anime debates, the energy was unmatched!

    I had the chance to interview a 5-year BlerdCon veteran to talk about what makes BlerdCon such a special experience year after year. We talked about whether the convention still feels fresh after attending multiple times, what keeps drawing her back every year, and how the energy of the community continues to evolve. From the atmosphere to the people, she shared why BlerdCon remains one of the few spaces where Black nerds, creatives, gamers, anime fans, cosplayers, and geeks can truly feel at home.

    One of the highlights of the interview was hearing about the creation of her incredible Black eccentric furry cosplay. We got into the inspiration behind the design, the creative process, the challenges of bringing the character to life, and how rewarding it felt seeing the final result come together so beautifully. The cosplay was bold, unique, and honestly unforgettable, a true reflection of creativity and self-expression within the Black nerd community.

    We also had a deeper conversation about the importance of Black nerd spaces and why conventions like BlerdCon matter. Representation, community, creativity, and feeling accepted were all major topics during our discussion. It was an amazing conversation about identity, passion, and celebrating every side of being unapologetically nerdy and Black.

    I had the awesome opportunity to interview the JoJo Pose Competition winner at Anime Pasadena, who showed up in an incredible Guido Mista cosplay from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure during Anime Los Angeles weekend. The cosplay was on point, from the outfit to the attitude, really bringing one of the most iconic characters from the JoJo universe to life.

    During our conversation, we dove into everything that makes JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure such a legendary anime series. We talked about the unique art style, the unforgettable characters, and of course the over the top poses that have become a huge part of anime culture. As the JoJo Pose Competition champion, he shared what it felt like to win and how much fun it was representing the JoJo fandom at the event.

    We also got into a fun debate about Stands, the powerful spiritual manifestations that define the battles in JoJo. One of the big questions I had to ask was, if you could have any Stand in real life, which one would it be? His answer sparked a really fun discussion about the abilities, personalities, and strategies behind some of the most famous Stands in the series.

    It was a great moment celebrating the passion of anime fans and the creativity of the cosplay community. Interviews like this remind me why the anime community is so special, bringing people together to celebrate the stories and characters we all love.

    And of course, we had to ask the big question. Is Gurren Lagann the greatest mecha anime of all time? Spiral power forever. Who do you believe in?

    We talked about their love for the Pokémon franchise, what inspired their cosplays, and how Pokémon continues to connect generations of fans through games, anime, and conventions. From nostalgic memories of watching Pokémon growing up to the creativity and dedication that goes into cosplay, this interview was a reminder of how strong and welcoming the Pokémon fandom really is. During our conversation, she broke down what ADR really is, how the dubbing process works behind the scenes, and what it takes to faithfully adapt anime for English-speaking audiences.

    Mary shared how adapting dialogue for a film like Ghost in the Shell isn’t just about translating words — it’s about timing, mouth movements, cultural nuance, and preserving the meaning and tone of the original performance. She also talked about how the film became a major landmark for the Western anime community, influencing not only fans but filmmakers and the broader sci-fi genre.

    We also explored the challenges of working with classic material during a time when the anime industry in the U.S. was still developing, and how the localization process has evolved since then. Learning about the historical context behind the English adaptation of Ghost in the Shell was incredible, and it gave us a deeper appreciation for everyone who works in ADR, dubbing, and translation to bring anime to new audiences around the world.

    On Sunday, Melrose Avenue got COMPLETELY transformed into an 80s-style Stranger Things takeover — and honestly, it was one of the coolest LA events I’ve ever been to. They shut down the entire street so everyone could roll through on bikes e-scooters , skateboards — whatever you ride.

    The whole avenue felt like stepping straight into Hawkins for one final adventure. Every block had something dope: pop-up vendors, interactive booths, photo ops , merch spots , and even the local stores joined in with Stranger Things displays and event promos.

    Seeing the community and the show come together like that was breathtaking. The energy was nostalgic, neon, retro, and emotional all at once — the PERFECT way to say goodbye to a series that changed pop culture forever

    I was blessed to attend the World Premiere Red Carpet for The Last of Us Season 2, and as a fan of the games, this was a dream come true! From the moment I stepped in, the energy was unreal, and the cast & crew were incredibly kind and welcoming.

    Now let’s talk about that first episode—it hits hard right from the start! For those who played Part II, you’re in for a faithful, gut-wrenching, and visually stunning adaptation. Every detail feels like it was ripped straight from the game—the cinematography, the environments, the tension—it’s all there!

    Huge shoutout to @1iota, @Sony, @HBO, and @NaughtyDog for making this unforgettable night possible. Gamers, get ready. This season is going to be an emotional rollercoaster.

    It’s not goodbye—it’s Cobra Kai Never Dies! I had the incredible honor of attending the red carpet and screening for the Cobra Kai finale, and what an unforgettable experience it was. This event proved that The Karate Kid legacy is still alive and thriving, bridging generations from the ’80s to today.

    The cast’s love for their fans was evident in every interaction, making the night even more special. Netflix truly knows how to put on an epic premiere, bringing together an amazing community of fans. Watching the finale in a packed theater, surrounded by passionate energy, cheers, and gasps at every twist and action-packed moment, was an experience like no other. Huge thanks to Netflix for breathing new life into this legendary story and giving it the epic send-off it deserves.
