5 Furry Years At Blerdcon | Blerdcon 2026
I had the chance to interview a 5-year BlerdCon veteran to talk about what makes BlerdCon such a special experience year after year. We talked about whether the convention still feels fresh after attending multiple times, what keeps drawing her back every year, and how the energy of the community continues to evolve. From the atmosphere to the people, she shared why BlerdCon remains one of the few spaces where Black nerds, creatives, gamers, anime fans, cosplayers, and geeks can truly feel at home.
One of the highlights of the interview was hearing about the creation of her incredible Black eccentric furry cosplay. We got into the inspiration behind the design, the creative process, the challenges of bringing the character to life, and how rewarding it felt seeing the final result come together so beautifully. The cosplay was bold, unique, and honestly unforgettable, a true reflection of creativity and self-expression within the Black nerd community.
We also had a deeper conversation about the importance of Black nerd spaces and why conventions like BlerdCon matter. Representation, community, creativity, and feeling accepted were all major topics during our discussion. It was an amazing conversation about identity, passion, and celebrating every side of being unapologetically nerdy and Black.
