Why Culture Matters in Animation | Forgotten Island Director Interview | Multicon 26

I had the opportunity to sit down with one of the directors of DreamWorks’ Forgotten Island to talk about something that really stood out to me: culture and representation.

We discussed how the film brings different cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives into its world and why it’s important for audience, especially younger viewers, to be able to see pieces of themselves represented in animation.

What does seeing your culture represented in animation mean to you?
