Love Hurts
Love Hurts feels like John Wick with a Valentine’s Day twist, blending action and comedy with a romantic undertone. While the “retired assassin forced back into action” trope is becoming cliché, the film tries to stand out by emphasizing love as a universal experience.
What works best is the action—fast-paced, well-choreographed, and intense. Unlike John Wick, the protagonist isn’t unstoppable; he’s rusty and has to adapt, making the fights feel more grounded. However, despite its unique romantic spin, the film doesn’t fully escape the predictability of its premise.
Entertaining but familiar, Love Hurts delivers solid action and fun moments but doesn’t reinvent the genre.
