Crime 101

Crime 101 is a sleek and morally layered action thriller that flips the traditional crime formula on its head. Instead of glorifying chaos, the film centers on a thief with a code. From the very first scene, we understand this is not just about stealing, it is about precision, reputation, and doing the job clean. No casualties, no unnecessary damage, every item insured, every move calculated.

What makes Crime 101 stand out is its protagonist. He is not reckless or power hungry, he genuinely cares about the well being of the very people he robs. That moral contradiction gives the story emotional weight. When his partner hires someone new to handle jobs and that person operates carelessly, hurting innocent people, everything begins to unravel. It is no longer just about money, it becomes about legacy and control.

Chris Hemsworth delivers one of his most vulnerable performances to date. He steps away from brute strength and leans into restraint, intelligence, and romance. There is a softness beneath the surface that makes his character feel human rather than mythic.

Halle Berry shines as a sharp and hyper intelligent businesswoman who feels overlooked and underestimated. Her character lives in the gray space between right and wrong, and that internal conflict is portrayed beautifully. You can feel the weight of every decision she makes.

Mark Ruffalo plays a detective who has lost nearly everything, yet refuses to stop chasing the truth. His realization that Crime 101 refers to Highway 101, the protagonist’s signature escape route, is subtle but satisfying.

The antagonist is pure chaos, reckless, impulsive, and everything our main character is not. That contrast drives the tension throughout the film.

The action is shot beautifully, controlled and intentional. The performances are strong across the board, and the moral undertones elevate it beyond a typical crime thriller.

Crime 101 proves that even in a world built on theft, principles still matter.
